Mediterranean restaurants - Drunk Monk - 03-26-2008 In response to tg's list of any ethnic-ish restaurants under Indian food, let's separate some out, shall we? La Mediterranee is the best IMO. They catered our wedding. http://www.lamediterranee.net I was also very impressed with Good Frickin Chicken on Mission. Dish Dash is good Middle Eastern (southern Mediterranean - don't want to mix things up too much our I'll sound like tg ) in Sunnyvale. http://www.dishdash.net Still trying to find a decent falafel here in Fremont. There's a place at the hub I used to go to sometimes, but I haven't been there forever and I can't remember the name. There's a new place about to open just down the street, so fingers are crossed. - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 03-30-2008 +1 on La Med and Frickin'. I would like to add Yaya Cuisine (now in Burlingame, formerly in SF) to that list. Some truly (pleasantly) surprising meals. They bill themselves as a "Mesopotamian" restaurant since "Iraqi" doesn't pull 'em in off the streets. For shawarma and falafel, Truly Mediterranean on 16th Street is A-OK with me, too. Best Armenian food - The Queen - 03-31-2008 I don't know about L.A., haven't found a place out here -- and given that I'm sticking to 1200 calories or less per day, probably best not to find a place! But when I'm visitng Chicago on business, I would leap to go to Sayat Nova: http://www.sayatnovachicago.com/menu.html. The cheese boreg and jajik are both real treats. I've found it! - Drunk Monk - 11-16-2009 Good falafel in Fremont! Will wonders never cease? Check out Falafel etc. http://www.falafeletc1.com/index.html La Mediterranee on Fillmore - Drunk Monk - 10-09-2011 It's one of those cramped, no-reservations, 20+ min. wait, S.F. to-die-for restaurants. Take a friend and get the Meza platter and a mint tea. Re: Mediterranean restaurants - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 10-09-2011 Oh, yes, my friend. That is a regular haunt for me and Miss B. We regularly split the mezza platter and rarely finish the whole thing. Mint tea with dinner, Turkish coffee afterward. Don't call it "Turkish" coffee, though, as the owners are Armenian. To cap off the evening, Citizen Cake has a cafe across the street... Eat out? - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 10-09-2011 Chicken was just on sale at the Ralph's. I bought a lot. greg eats more chicken than any man... - Drunk Monk - 10-10-2011 We went to the one on Noe mostly, but that was nearly 2 decades ago. That was the first time we tried the Fillmore one. You can take B for your next anniversary.... Re: Mediterranean restaurants - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 10-10-2011 And the hits just keep on coming. Re: Mediterranean restaurants - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 10-11-2011 The one in Berkeley has a different menu -- that's good. Variety. really? - Drunk Monk - 10-12-2011 We almost went there for a previous anniversary but didn't for some reason. |
