We just hit Rosie McCann's, an Irish pub downtown. It was like a movie set version of an Irish pub, some external trappings but lacking genuine substance. I've gone there before, of course. I did NOT get my usual Guinness there because I know the pull would be unsatisfactory.

You've been to the Poet & the Patriot, right? It's more low-key than Rosie McCann's. Darts in the back. Lots of college kids. Music pretty frequently.

Yes indeed. And I like that place, but it's no where near the home-cooked vibe of a real Irish pub. It's more like a typical U.S. bar with a lot of irishy decor.

You won't get the irish vibe from the Yeti's place, but the the waitresses do have a lovely lilt in their accents.

On a positive note, Choice Organic Irish Breakfast Tea, which is one of my go-to morning tea brands, is a good version of Irish Tea. At least, I have tea.
On the mend now. Just coughing a little and back on CA time. Well, still a little on the early side, but I use that to my advantage to get on the road early for the commute.

I just took my last antibiotic pill. Both Stacy and I have lingering yet diminishing coughs. Tara is all better. I should've gone to Kung Fu tonight but it's cold and wet and I'm feckin lazy.
Still ruminating over Ireland. I gained 5 lbs in the two weeks. And I regret not drinking more but I was too sick during the last few days. I could've easily spent more time in the pubs - so delightful those are. The drink, food and music - plus the regulars - if only there was something like that here in stumbling distance...

Well, I posted pretty much all the Ireland pix I will post on sitonmyfacebook. Been ruminating on how to sum it all up but I just don't want it to end.
Ireland is a truly magical place and I was moved on a far deeper level than I anticipated, especially for such a short trip. I'd go back in a heartbeat, but there are other international boxes on the ol' bucket list and both time and money are running out.
I'm at a loss for Guinness. It's been my brand for decades but now when I drink it, I only taste its U.S. shortcomings. Been seeking a new standard brew - leaning towards Stella Artois because that's what Ray Park & I drank and heck, if it's good enough for Darth Maul...
And now I'm on the hunt for Irish whiskeys - forsaking the prevalent Scottish stuff. So you know that Ireland rocked DM's world when it has caused a major shift in his two primary libations.
But Greg, when you go back, know that you'll find a bit o me heart floating in the head on a pint of Guinness, freshly pulled from a James Joyce certified pub.
