RE: Ireland 2016 - Greg - 11-27-2016 I'm hoping Stephen Fung was nicer to you than he was at the screening. Not really - Drunk Monk - 11-27-2016 We were seated next to each other but then Stephen discreetly shifted to the next table to allow an American stuntman and his gf to sit there. I think he knows that if his wife and I ever met, dm would totally steal her away from him. Daniel was very generous, paying for everything and positioning me right beside him and master dee dee and his wife kept pouring me tea and reminding Daniel not to serve me meat (table etiquette is a huge Chinese thing). Then Daniel took me out for tea after. Which is why I can't pass out right now, as much as I need to. To quote the Dead 'I'd like to get some sleep before I travel...' DM FTW! - Greg - 11-27-2016 Irish miracles are the best kind. I hope that salvages the trip for you a little bit. Was it green tea with Daniel or black as my heart Irish Breakfast tea? Did you see the Molly Malone statue? Sick - Drunk Monk - 11-27-2016 Tara says 'sick' when she approves. This trip has been sick. Aside from the illnesses, the trip has been amazing, far exceeding my expectations. I knew so little about this great nation. It's been Irish tea all the way. Luv it. That's been one of my go-to morning teas for years. Seen Molly many times. How can you miss those shiny cockles? Kept meaning to take a pic, but alas, she escaped my lens. RE: Ireland 2016 - Greg - 11-27-2016 Through streets broad and narrow She wheels her wheel barrow Singing Cockels and Mussels Alive, alive-o. The tart with the cart. The trollop with the scallop. I'm going to have to glean through your posts to find out what was so extraordinary about your trip. Although I am glad you had a good time. I feared I would have to defend Ireland for the next eon from your slander. RE: Ireland 2016 - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 11-27-2016 Defend your Emerald Isle from slander? I think you take Ireland for granted, having lived there. I can't think of a more welcoming place. If someone says "I don't like Ireland" that probably translates to "I don't enjoy life". I knew DM would have a great time and am glad the Fam also had a good time. There's a reason that there are Irish bars everywhere in the world. The Craic, man, The Craic!!! @ the airport. - Drunk Monk - 11-28-2016 i feel like shyte - achy, dizzy - feckin Ireland kicked my ass. And I loved every minute of it. Back at the bungalow - Drunk Monk - 11-28-2016 Home safe. Now I will pass out for a few days. Epilogue forthcoming along with some airplane movie reviews. Welcome home - cranefly - 11-28-2016 Wow. Epic. You and yours get well. RE: Ireland 2016 - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 11-29-2016 +1 (The forum would not post the above because it is "too short". Since brevity is the soul of something or other, I declare, without hesitation, shenanigans). Still coughing up pats of Irish butter - Drunk Monk - 11-30-2016 I haven't unpacked all the way yet. Still suffering the ill effects of Ireland. Still overwhelmed by the experience. Really missing my brown bread, salmon, tea, whiskey and of course, Guinness. I'm scheduled to go back to work tomorrow but may telecommute, or may go in for a kaiser visit. Depends on if I can cough my left lung clear. That's the goal for today. Fremont....oh yay - Drunk Monk - 12-01-2016 Got up shortly after 4:20 to join Stacy watching some news. Had some of my organic Irish breakfast tea, which was remarkably satisfying, but no brown bread, no creamy butter, and no smoked salmon. I'm now at Fremont dennys and the power just went out. I is a sad panda.... Whiplash! - Greg - 12-01-2016 How do you go from Irish Brown bread and Kellygold in Dublin one day and Denny's in Fremont the next? You don't. Not without consequences. Yeah.....fml - Drunk Monk - 12-02-2016 I'm sad whenever I'm at Denny's, save for the nostalgia of our youths. Most of the Irish butter at the tables wasn't kerrygold. It began with a D, but I can't remember it now. My doc thinks I have a mild sinus infection from allergic complications. Plausible. My lungs are clear; it's just a post-nasal drip aggravating my bronchial tubes. So it got some zirtec and Flonase for the allergy, even though my sinuses feel clear, and an anti-biotic which makes everything taste like crap anyway. Why the hell isnt there any brown bread in Murica?!?! Thanks Obama. Or maybe I should shift that to feckin trump. foodireland.com - Greg - 12-02-2016 Something about the wheat. I have over the years bought Irish brown bread kits to alleviate my suffering but it is a pale substitute. |
