Re: TV Kinda rocks now - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 09-30-2008

A bad night all around.

Chuck was weak, but they usually are. I did like the fact they are giving Chuck some balls. He did manage to take control of one situation in a very clever way. But then it was back to the whining. Why must everybody whine. Stand up for your right to party, dammit.

Didn't like the Heroes, so much. I don't need for Sylar to be a good guy. I like the fact mom is evil but I knew that. Too much comic relief from the Ando and Hero story. Yet another year of Officer Gruden on the sidelines. This episode felt a little flat. Everything was solved pretty neatly. But they did say there were a bunch of people from level five out, not just those four in the bank. They do need to find something for Clare to do.

Then there was Life. Better but it's still tied to the back story too much. I don't even remember why we are looking for the girl. I did like the new lieutenant and the fact he's hitting on the female lead in every scene.

Yes, I'll be back next week. In the meantime, I'll enjoy Fringe.

That's DM's birthday. Maybe DM is actually another Tracy/Nikki clone. That would explain why Dm looks so good in lingerie.

Eewwww. Now my mind is full of icky thoughts. DM keep your inside thoughts inside.

Re: TV Kinda rocks now - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 10-02-2008

Have you watched Fringe yet?

ok, i did watch another episode of Heroes... - Drunk Monk - 10-08-2008

but i'm still not hooked.

haven't watched fringe.

checked out life since the episode was about animal rights. thought it was very mediocre, hinging mostly on the charisma of the lead and the partner babe, which almost works but not quite. there was a hallucinogenic scene and if there's two things that dm judges harshly, it's hallucination and fight scenes. life didn't measure up. probably won't check it out again unless there's absolutely nothing else on.

it's all about the debates now. that and tina fey on snl. it's great to see snl be relevant again, even if it's only for a sketch or two per episode. it's all about tina.

Re: TV Kinda rocks now - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 10-26-2008

5 or 6 episodes into the new season and nothing is really connecting with me.

I've missed a couple of episodes of Heroes but don't really care. I'm keeping up with Fringe because I love the mad scientist but that show doesn't really have much else going for it. Chuck is getting marginally better but that isn't tough to do. I watched the first episode of Life on Mars. It didn't do anything for me. I was there in that part of the seventies. It was fun for the British version to see London in the seventies. Or maybe the joke has just worn thin? I still like Life but all the characters except for the main detective have become very two dimensional some only one.

Don't get me started on the Mentalist and it's California Bureau of Investigation.

The Prisoner 2009 - thatguy - 10-27-2008

Whether this rocks or sux, we shall see...

Remake/"re-imagining" of the 60's series. Joint venture between AMC and ITV. Ian McKellan as Number 2 (no, not Mr. Hankey, the other Number 2).

http://www.amctv.com/originals/the-prisoner/about/

Quote:About the Show

In 2009, AMC will present The Prisoner miniseries, a reinterpretation of the British 1960s cult hit series starring and co-created by Patrick McGoohan.

The Premise : A man, known as "Six," finds himself inexplicably trapped in "The Village" with no memory of how he arrived. As he explores his environment, he discovers that his fellow inhabitants are identified by number instead of name, have no memory of any prior existence, and are under constant surveillance. Not knowing whom to trust, Six is driven by the need to discover the truth behind The Village, the reason for his being there, and most importantly -- how he can escape.

Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ , The Thin Red Line) will play the role of "Number Six" and two-time Oscar Winner, Ian McKellen (Lord of the Rings, The Da Vinci Code) will co-star as "Number Two."

The Prisoner miniseries is a co-production of AMC and ITV Productions; the deal was brokered by Granada International, which holds international distribution rights. Bill Gallagher (Conviction, Clocking Off, Lark Rise To Candleford) serves as writer and executive producer, along with Michele Buck, Damien Timmer, Rebecca Keane, and AMC's Charlie Collier, Christina Wayne and Vlad Wolynetz. It is produced by Trevor Hopkins (Dracula, Poirot).

Re: TV Kinda rocks now - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 10-27-2008

Ack.

Why can't they take a bad series and try to make it better? You could make all of the Gerry and Sylvia Anderson puppet shows and make them live action, take their live action shows and make them with puppets. That would keep everyone busy and out of trouble for a couple of years.

I did like the BBC "Life on Mars" for the reasons G-Man has said (and I thought the characters were engaging). No desire to see a homogenized, pasteurized, bowlderized, sanitized Yankee version.

Heroes is so losing it for me... - Drunk Monk - 10-28-2008

...the clincher? lame hallocinogenic scenes. they have a great opportunity to go major hallocinogenic and they're dropping the ball.

nevertheless, i do find it disturbing that sylar has been on the cover of entertainment weekly twice in a row:

i also find it very disturbing that KB is married to mrs. petrelli.

if any of us were to be a petrelli, surely it would be bob.

Villains - Drunk Monk - 11-11-2008

That was a funny twist. I'm still not addicted to this show tho...

The IT Crowd 3rd season starts Friday, 11/21 in the UK.

I heard an interview recently with Graham Linehan, the creator (who also did Father Ted), on the Sound of Young America:

Season 2 ep 1 is the funniest 30 minutes of TV I've ever seen. Too bad the rest of the season didn't reach that level.
