That was Sal's 1st trip to the cave? - Drunk Monk - 01-05-2012

My respect for him just plummeted. This from a dude that wears robes all the time?

Don't tell him that.

Of course there's a trail. It's a holy Chinese mountain. There are so many friggin trails on Songshan. People have been hiking it for centuries. Alas, Sal... Did I ever tell you about how I had to jog up that trail to Tamo's cave before my Shaolin practice session? Or how I used to train up there with Decheng? Or how I got our former editor (a bleach-blonde L.A. J.A.P. totally lost by taking one wrong turn, so we had to actually climb one small rock face (it wasn't bad, more fun to hear her complain)? Or how I rescued a young girl during a terrible rainstorm up there? Oh right, you read my book. ;-)

The Tamo-impression stone is now housed in the temple. If memory serves, it's in white garment hall, the one with the 13 monks rescue the Tang Emperor fresco.

Thanks and praises for burning incense at the cave for me. And thanks for sharing your adventures here as they've happened. It's helped inspire me again. It's so great that another DOOM bro actually made it to Shaolin.

I did read the book - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-05-2012

Yeah, Sal. I won't do the two thousands words on my feelings about him. Although there might be a few hints on my feelings about him.

I'm sitting in my hotel room in Zhengzhou, waiting for the buffet breakfast to open. Then it's off to Beijing and the ten hour layover. Turns out there is a subway train that now runs from terminal three right into downtown. I might have to avail myself of that. Although my desire to see new things and take pictures is kind of at a low ebb. But I will soldier on.

Re: China 2011-2012 - cranefly - 01-05-2012

I'm thinking that if Sal ever asks me to go with him to Shaolin, my answer will be a single word consisting of two letters -- the first being "N" and the second being a common letter in the first names of lead actresses in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo films.

Wow, that was labored.....

OO....I get it CF - Drunk Monk - 01-06-2012

Wait, I'm getting CF's jokes? There must be something wrong with me. I mean more so than usual.

Hope your journey home was smooth. We'll chat when you've recovered a little.

A taste - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-11-2012

I exist only to amuse the DM.

to amuse DM - Drunk Monk - 01-11-2012

...if only you were a woman and looked like Gina Carano, Greg.

First admiring the Yeti in white - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-11-2012

Now, this? Ewwww. What's wrong with you? Is Mrs. DM out of town?

she'll be out of town next week - Drunk Monk - 01-12-2012

expect applenetflixtv reviews...

then again, maybe not. maybe i'll be too consumed with single fatherhood.

Re: China 2011-2012 - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 01-13-2012

Doom Gathering at DM's house! :axe:

Cool! - Drunk Monk - 01-13-2012

Can you and Greg come dressed like Gina Carano in knickers?

Oh wait. Hold the phone. How the heck would I 'splain that to Tara?

that's easy - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-13-2012

Lot's of therapy. Years of it.

Did I tell you where Mrs Dm is going? - Drunk Monk - 01-13-2012

She's going to a workshop on breathing. That's right. She's learning how to breath. She not only gets CEUs towards her national cert, she can write it off on her taxes.

You should have seen T's expression when she heard this. With parents like us, I'm skeptical any amount of therapy will help...

Sadly, I understand why that's important - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-13-2012

You can't really do Qigong without breathing.

Poor, Tara.

you can't really do anything without breathing - Drunk Monk - 01-13-2012

except maybe decomposing...

Re: China 2011-2012 - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 01-13-2012

The bacteria still need oxygen for the whole decomposing thing to work. Not to quibble . . .
