RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Drunk Monk - 07-21-2022 Exactly. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-21-2022 I have not intention of using them. I already have an offer from a company to pay me. I was just curious what their royalty rates were to get a comparison. I think, and again I'm not sure, the royalty rates from Casement are a tad low. I could be wrong. I'm looking for someone to tell me yay or nay. At the end of the day, I will probably go with Casement because in my mind the victory will getting the book published, not the money. But, yes, money is nice. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-22-2022 I've seen the Hybrid contract from Olympia. The royalties are much higher. I just have to pay £2900. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-22-2022 Funny how that works. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-22-2022 Okay. That Author's Guild thing is awesome. I just got the letter back from their legal team and it was chock full of great information. Although the caveat is the publisher probably doesn't want to negotiate. I will see what I can do. And to be sure, this is the contract with Casemant, the publisher who wants to pay. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-25-2022 I just sent an email to the Casement People asking if there was room to negotiate on their offer. I hope that isn't last communication on the subject. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-25-2022 Negotiation Update. Casement said they are open to negotiation. Wow! RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Drunk Monk - 07-25-2022 Good luck. Don't get too greedy. Remember, only a few really make much money on books. Where you make money as an author is book tours... or movie rights. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-25-2022 I want it all! I was just concerned about the Royalties which seemed low. And I just wanted to make sure the book deal wasn't too onerous. The changes I'm asking for I think are minor. We shall see. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Drunk Monk - 07-25-2022 Best of luck! Book royalties are generally pretty low. Book sales have low mark ups. Book publishing is expensive what with continually rising paper costs coupled with delivery costs do to gas hikes. It's a terrible economic model really. It just occured to me how much of D00M has been in the book industry. There's our ACWLP crew (including Stacy, KB & PPFY), two award winning writers in the cfs, and me who is too dumb to get out of the publishing business. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in... Welcome to the D00M bookie subgenre. Or should I just say subD00M... RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-26-2022 Just got the email back. They agreed to many of the things I requested. Some they did not. I might see the contract later today. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Drunk Monk - 07-26-2022 Are the compromises satisfactory? RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Greg - 07-26-2022 Very. I received more free books. I raised my royalty rates. And I have the theatrical rights. To be fair, I would have signed the contract if they had said not to everything as well. The victory will always be getting my grandfather's book published. Everything else is frosting. Mmmm, frosting. RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Drunk Monk - 07-26-2022 I just looked up Casemate. They look like a great fit. https://www.casematepublishers.com/about-us RE: Papa Lynch's World War 2 Book - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-26-2022 I just looked up Frosting. Looks like a great look for your tips. |
