Swing by and pick me up on your way down. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert - Greg - 05-08-2026 The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I am currently pre-sad that there are only 9 episodes left of the Late Show. I've watched it religiously since it debuted with Coblert over 9 years ago. In the run up to the end, the shows seemed to be extra special with the guests reminiscing about how much Colbert and the show has meant to them. I fervently hope Colbert has something else coming up. RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - Drunk Monk - 05-08-2026 Another major bummer. I shall miss it too. I probably get more of my news from Colbert than any other. RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - Greg - 05-20-2026 My sadness increases every day after I watch the latest Colbert show. The most recent has just been spectacular. Monday night's Worst of The Late Show episode was fantastic. RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - Greg - 05-22-2026 I am actively avoiding any mention of last night's show until I see it later today. I watched the penultimate show last night where Colbert took the Colbert Questionert and there were some technical hiccups. The local CBS station ran commercials over the last several minutes before Bruce sang. Then the recording cut off before Bruce finished. Thank goodness for YouTube. We went and saw the bits we missed. RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - Greg - 05-24-2026 Only in Monroe. IYKYK RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - Drunk Monk - 06-18-2026 Quote:San Francisco Chronicle I've always liked this building. I drive by it a lot because I park at the 5th & Mission garage a lot for screeners at the Metreon, and previously for Warfield shows and Fan Expo SF. It's almost right across the street. And obviously you want to tap into their customer base or you wouldn't have picked that spot. I'll probably boycott. But I guess it doesn't matter anyway, since I almost never eat a donut, and our go to is Maple Leaf on Saratoga. I think we last went about 2-3 years ago. RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - Drunk Monk - 07-30-2026 People still fence? A major rite of passage with the SJSU was huffing the uhlmann bong which was nearly a yard long of pvc pipe with an uhlmann sticker on it. My mask was uhlmann - solid steel mesh that was perfect for head butting. RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-30-2026 Meh. Quality decline, price hikes, bullshit tariffs, transpo $ hikes, all materials $ hike, more hiking than Sierra Club in July. Owned by Allstar, so no tears from me. RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - thatguy - 08-02-2026 Mtn View Surplus...everything must go! --tg RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - Drunk Monk - 08-02-2026 Haven’t been in there for years. I should hit it up because I need some fresh gear. My go-to is the surplus store on Stevens Creek nowadays. RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - King Bob - 08-02-2026 I don't even know about that place. Where is it? There used to be a surplus store called THE Mountain View right down from Tower in Mountain View but it closed years ago. RE: RIP Franchises of our youths - Drunk Monk - 08-02-2026 It's small, near Miramonte & El Camino. I only know it because of Garden Fresh, a veg Chinese restaurant near there. I used to hit that place a lot when I lived in Sunnyvale (man, that's like over a quarter century ago). It's still going. I've eaten there this year. Sometimes I'll hit it up on the way to Shoreline. |
