RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Drunk Monk - 08-10-2025 Hozier Strong finish Sounds great RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Drunk Monk - 08-11-2025 Back at the bungalow 6 days in GGP over 2 weekends Sleep now More later RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Greg - 08-11-2025 "I like my whiskey neat" RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Drunk Monk - 08-11-2025 For some reason, I never put together that Hozier is Irish, but figured it out as soon as he said ‘fockn’. He was quite good live - a powerful singer and both Tara & I were surprised at how many of his songs we knew. OSL is magical at night - the way the lights hit the trees & fog is so special. We did a final walkabout, struggling to find somewhere to spend our last food coupons (we ended up getting $80 Sunday). We got hot chocolates & more momos and gave away some and still ended up with one unspent. Checked out Anderson.paak who was ok. Caught jorja smith doing Vanity’s Nasty Girl. Ended back at Hozier and just as he finished Take me to Church, we got a call - a lost gal, again no phone, in a sheer cat suit. She eventually recalled her sister’s number which I called and arranged a pick up (she took an uber from Redwood City). A good albeit long complicated save. We walked back to Tara’s reflecting on how odd of an OSL it was, but still fun, and how Tara had to do more work on her own than ever but rose to the occasion. The music didn’t really hit. Beck, Doechii & Hozier were the strongest. And the shrooms were also strong. My Bollywood stealth mode show didn’t deliver. It was a struggle getting home but I made it obvs. Almost 9 miles walking on Sunday. RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - thatguy - 08-11-2025 If you are wearing a sheer cat suit, where are you gonna put your phone? --tg RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Drunk Monk - 08-11-2025 She had a Fanny pack for her makeup. She had stunning makeup. Her eyes were lined with sequins. At one point, she started giving Tara makeup advice (Tara seldom wears makeup). RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Greg - 08-12-2025 Just read that Gavin Newsom was at OSL..... RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Drunk Monk - 08-12-2025 So was Nancy Pelosi & Conan O’Brian RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Drunk Monk - 08-17-2025 Quote:Hundreds take to social media to voice crowd safety concerns after Outside Lands Music Festival Gotta call BS on this. When someone passes out, they call RM. Sure we had plenty of calls, but not of a significantly greater magnitude than what might be expected for a festival of this size. Some people passed out. Some people always pass out. But they weren't 'passing out left and right.' There were a lot of high schoolers. There were a lot of collegiates too. RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - King Bob - 08-23-2025 I saw something on IG where they said there were a lot of high schoolers who overdid it but not that. RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Drunk Monk - 08-23-2025 That rings true. We did have an inordinate number of younger people - high schoolers & early 20s. That’s always a big patient demographic but from my subjective observation, there felt like more. Which makes me wonder if there’s a mole in Rock Med. We are specifically instructed not to talk to press - and for good reasons. I don’t know if that younger demographic would’ve been so evident to the casual observer. RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Drunk Monk - 03-03-2026 ![]() This maybe our final OSL where Tara & I do all three days together. That's been all about her having her fantabulous apartment - the rabbit hutch - in the Richmond. Being able to walk to the OSL site has been such a luxury. They will be letting go of that pad this fall. It's been a great run. RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - thatguy - 03-06-2026 I actually know and am interested in some of the bands this time around. My daughter already got 3-day passes on the Chase card early access perk. I asked her to get me a couple too... I like the Strokes, tho I haven't listened to them in a bit. I think Wet Leg sounds like they are heavily influenced by the Strokes. I'm really liking their sound... I am also getting onto the Geese bandwagon. I like their sound, too. Cameron has an interesting singing style. I've seen Death Cab a couple times. I know some of their songs. I'm more of a Postal Service fan, but what ev... I'm sure the whole thing will be a bit of a zoo, like Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, but different demographic. I'm curious how I'll do in full multi-day festival mode as I've never done that before. --tg RE: SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - Drunk Monk - 03-06-2026 I luv OSL, but I get comped food (which is awesome but expensive) and have parking, plus a place to crash in the past few years. It's a lot of walking. Wear good shoes, dress for bitter cold at nights (there are lockers for rent), and know that food is pricey, but really good. I have friends that live near 25th and Lake, so I might hit them up (assuming all of their other friends haven't also hit them up). Parking for HSL was a nightmare (since it's free?), and I assume OSL will be the same if not worse. I might consider taking the cycle, but I'd have to figure out how to tote my belongings. Phoebe (Phormer Yeti Bike) is in Marina (not THE marina, the one near Ft. Ord). And it has all the handy storage. My duc is here in Cupertino, and is essentially a fancy, and fast moped, with no storage. --tg |
