Chinese directors seem prone to adding comedic animated characters to their dramas. I call it Jar Jar syndrome .

Fair question. Probably. Although in general, Chinese audiences don't care for Star Wars. They never saw the original trilogy, so the Daddy Darth mcguffin had no impact. They saw Jar Jar first. Actually, that would explain a lot of things...
