RE: Sheltering in Place - King Bob - 02-04-2023 Going out for coffee and breakfast. Then probably running some errands. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 02-04-2023 I was confused. I thought today was Sunday. It’s Saturday. Yay. Kung Fu, writing, finding a dry place for Yuki’s walk. The person who took care of Stacy’s relative when he died is bringing by some photos. She’s odd. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 02-05-2023 931:223 Yoga, finish my article and build a graphic for it, laundry, cleaning. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 02-06-2023 932-224: Damn, Monday again already… it’s a twin telemeet work day. Hopefully it’ll be dry enough for some good dog parking. We went out on Sunday and it was clear but when we got to the park, we got caught in a downpour. Yuki looked so bummed out. RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 02-06-2023 Nothing but blue skies and a big moon. Spending the day editing the book RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 02-06-2023 It's been one of those Mondays when I open my email and there's a bunch of bunched panties from various work emergencies (so not emergencies) and I spent the first hour talking down my fellow employees on the east coast who've been up and working for the last 3 hours... Now all is resolved and I can begin my own work, which is overdue because another coworker failed to deliver to a different employee who notified me about the failure on Friday and only gave me like a half hour window to rectify it. Tell me why I hate Mondays... But on the homefront, we got blue sky too. Yay! RE: Sheltering in Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-06-2023 Totally mercinret. RE: Sheltering in Place - Greg - 02-06-2023 Time to reboot. Your loop is stuck. (Another sign of mercinret) RE: Sheltering in Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-06-2023 (02-06-2023, 10:56 AM)Greg Wrote: Time to reboot. Your loop is stuck. Valid. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 02-06-2023 Dammit! How many times to I have to tell you that Merc ain't in Ret until Apr 21. Just trying to educmacate y'all in some scientifical 'strology here, and this is what I get for my troubles. To say something is mercinret when mercaintinret is so mercinret... I want Philomena Cunk to interview and astrologer about MercNRet. Just a few more hours of labor, then I can take Yuki to the dog park under these clear blue skies. 'Cause I've seen blue skies, through the tears In my eyes And I realize, I'm going home I do need a reboot. If only it was that simple... RE: Sheltering in Place - thatguy - 02-06-2023 Maybe if there was a Schoolhouse Rock episode about it... --tg RE: Sheltering in Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-07-2023 Monday was pleasant enough. No Day Job, so just run a couple errands and then enjoy a sunny, cool day until The Evening Job kicks in. Not frantic at The Stab Shack tonight, a lot of kids still away or just returning from their weekend crusades. One of our better kids was having a slightly rough first 10 minute of the lesson, using too much power which slowed him down and affected his accuracy. I called a time-out to check in with him about his food levels (more boys than girls not eating enough these days) but he said he ate before practice. Another couple minutes and he loosened up and started putting less into the parry and more into the quick reach on the riposte. By the second time I exclaimed “there it is! There’s that riposte!” he admitted that just before the lesson started he had gotten destroyed by another one of our kids that he usually beats (but not easily) and that he was still mad about it for the first half of the lesson. That explains the heavy hand. I told him after the lesson finished that his analysis of why he was hitting hard was very perceptive (this is a 15 year old boy, remember) and that he should remember it. I’m pretty sure I would not have been so perceptive at 15. Of course, he is also a much better fencer than I ever was. RE: Sheltering in Place - King Bob - 02-07-2023 At that moment I think you were supposed to hit him with a stick so he would remember the lesson. Or he might become suddenly enlightened. That happens sometimes. RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 02-07-2023 933/255: A carpet cleaner is here so I’m tucked in my hole working remotely (but my wifi) is being obstinate). All our small furniture is in heaps in the rooms that are not to be cleaned like the kitchen and my hole (there’s only a tiny bit of exposed carpet in my hole). Later I’ll head to svale for the weekly mom errand. I second KB’s stick statement. One of the bonuses to teaching Kung Fu is you can hit students with a stick. All kinds of sticks. So many sticks… RE: Sheltering in Place - Drunk Monk - 02-07-2023 Working at my mom's house, the old magnavox just brings me back. Ive got it tuned to 98.5 Kfox - a classic rock station - and the base is cranked to max. That wood cabinet and those tubes just have such good warm base. This was the reason I became a bass worshipper. I want to turn it way up but it's still a quiet cul-de-sac and the neighbors are great - all so supportive. I don't want to disturb anyone on a Tuesday night. In fact, I better turn it down now... |
