RE: Master of Martial Hearts - Drunk Monk - 10-20-2018

Yea - got a real plumber who totally owned me. He cleared in a half hour without even pulling the trap. I wasn’t able to do that in 5 hours. Clearly I have no idea how to use a snake properly.

Dammit Jim. I’m a publisher not a plumber.

So there's an addendum to my plumbing misadventures.  Last week, after the real plumber cleared the drain, I figured I'd reinstall the chrome cap on top of the drain plug.  The exposed plastic piece looks tacky and the chrome piece is just a simple cap.  But as I soon discovered, the stopper was broken, so when I pushed the cap down over the plastic bit, it popped down into closed position - for good.  I tried to pry it up but it's...well, water tight.  I got so mad at myself.  Why couldn't I just leave well enough alone?  I eventually ended up pushing the plug down so some water could drain, although painfully slowly.

Yesterday I picked up a new pipe, one sans plunger & plug because although I think I could replace that, I didn't have the time or inclination after so many plumbing fails.  Now it flows freely.  Just the plug doesn't work.  The replacement came with one of those rubber stopper plugs, and that'll do just fine.  Maybe someday I'll go back and try to install a proper plug with a plunger.  Looks simple enough.  It always looks simple enough.

Plumbing. It's always the plumbing that gets you. I get the sweats when faced with a plumbing challenge. Although, I did swap out my garbage disposal in under an hour this year and that was a huge victory. Granted, I did need the sawzall to cut some rusted bolts.

There's a slight leak.  It's at the base.  I sealed it with plumbers tape, but should pull it apart again to reseal it with putty.

Or maybe Greg is right and I should just sawzall the crap out of it.

But I rent.  Crap.

I once posed the theorem that it is a minimum of three trips to Home Depot for any plumbing job.

So, two paragraphs of the glossary of anime boob terms followed by two pages of plumbing. *Plumbing*?!

Yeah.  It finally compelled me to watch, or skim, the first and fourth episodes of Master of the Martial Arts tonight, and watch most of the 5th and final episode -- just to give this long thread some linearity.  Yeah, some really twisted motivations in there, all revealed in a crescendo of upskirting.  One could say that it plumbed the depths of depravity, at the risk of clogging this discussion with bad puns.

Ha!

Got you to look.

My work here is done.

Ummmm, except that leaky drain. One more trip to Ace will make 3, proving Greg’s plumbing postulation.

At least three.

Hey, that's a different anime.  Isn't it?

Either way, it's delicious.
