My remote day. Not much pressing, just calling a vendor for a quote and a short meeting in the afternoon. Watching our friend's two small dogs, so I'll walk them later when it gets a little warmer. Then maybe hit the used bookstore before my meeting. And finish up some collages and sculptures for a December sale I got into.

Thursday is day off from the shop, but still teach in the evening day. Naturally, I'll be heading into the shop to try to catch up. Lots of errands before that, though. First in to-do list was sleep in. That was lovely.

942.124: Fridays are my get crap done days for work - only one short work call and the rest of the day is mine to work on what needs attention most. But I’m a bit ahead so it’ll be a UNESCO 2birds* feature. Today I also have a lunch date with my co-supervisor of psych at JAH Med. Next weekend is a JM board meeting up in Arcata. She will be attending in person. I thought about going but I’ve got too much in my plate next week to make that 4 hour drive despite all the wonderful hospitality they’re offering to host us. So we’re getting together to swap notes beforehand and just catch up since we’ve both had some adventures in between. It’s lunch at cafe grat. Also, while downtown, I have some odd errands to attend to, including depositing a refund check that Wells Fargo sent my mom that they wouldn’t take (think that was during mercnret); she just got a letter from wells to deposit it. Plus I’ll do some birthday shopping for Tara (bday in two weeks).
*2birds is the latest hip bit of DM jargon when he works on something that satisfies the needs of two of his jobs.

That summons a PTSD memory of working Skynyrd. It was Dm's first year or two of working RM. Back then, Dm's partner in crime, the late great Lizard King, was the Shoreline supe, and he would get a hotel as part of the gig because he lived in Santa Rosa. There were outrageous afterparties there - and by that, they were akin to what one imagines rock concert afterparties to be - illicit in so many ways. Dm forgets what the show prior to that Skynyrd show was but LK and Oddjob (another partner in crime) conspired to get DM so spun that he could drive home, forcing him to crash in the hotel room of sin, and then they cajoled him in his hungover and manipulatable state to work Skynyrd the following day because they had a skeleton crew (just the threesome). It was awful, in retrospect, a premonition of the Trump nation, rednecks running about in trucks flying the confederate flag. So many calls. So many cranked up drunks getting in fights. A nightmare of a show.
Skynyrd encored with Freebird. The lighters came out. Dm walked the concourse to see this so often mocked phenomena and was amused.

945.127: Happy Halloween! I’m not doing anything Halloween related today. Two telemeets then I blast up to SF to start selecting weapons from that private collection for CHSA. Always excited to view that collection. I drop off my lightsaber to Tara who is borrowing it for a costume tonight, then I return home.
