And back to the 2:45am wake-up call.

RE: Brain circus insomnia - Greg - 02-28-2023

Sleep is for the weak.

Second day in a row i awoke before 3 and never went back to sleep. I've come to the conclusion upon comparing the Yeti's and my circadian rhythms that the powers that be need one of us to be awake at all times.

Yesterday, i awoke to the usual stress related problems that plague me.

Today was a skosh different. I received news last night my mother had Covid and was on her to the hospital. For whatever reason, based on no evidence whatsoever, I felt this diagnosis was a bit difference than her usual batch of maladies. When I awoke that is what I spent the time thinking about; what to do after her passing. I had a lot to consider so I did.

So sorry to hear about your mom. I share your mom worry insomnia. I’m constantly thinking about what I’ll have to face when my mom passes. It has been the band of my sleeplessness for years. When she was still living at home, every time I’d open her door for my weekly visits, I’d flash on thr possibility of finding her fallen somewhere incapacitated or worse.

But right now I’m up because I drank too much whiskey watching Drunken Master for my birthday. I know, I know, alcohol is a depressant, but it also reduces inhibitions and for me, sometimes that affects my sleep. Seems paradoxical, I know. But here I am, awake again. Been lying in bed for like two hours pondering my age and life.

FWIW, booze keeps me awake, too.

For me booze knocked me out and then I snapped awake in the middle of the night. Often with night sweats.

As for aging mother worries, when my mom died it was like a weight was lifted. Rather suddenly too. I had been carrying those worries for such a long time that I wasn't aware of it anymore.

It was like that somewhat for me. Steve kept her in her house for almost 10 years beyond when she first needed help. 10 good quality years. He oaid (and is still paying) a price for that mitzvah.

We knew that once she was no longer in her home, she would not last long. I think she made it 6 weeks once we put her in a home.

I did feel a weight lift when she passed, but mainly because she had been slipping away for years. I'm tearing up as I write this.

My brain decided 3am was a good time to wake up and go over things.

RE: Brain circus insomnia - Drunk Monk - 03-31-2023

Mine did the same at 3:33. I went right back to sleep after a few minutes of D00M scrolling

RE: Brain circus insomnia - Greg - 03-31-2023

I can't imagine picking up the phone. I just laid there with my thoughts until 3:50 when I went out for my walk.

I’m addicted to the net. It’s an artifact of being a professional spammer. Not proud, but it pays bills and allows for my erratic schedule. At least I don’t have to get stabbed for a living.

RE: Brain circus insomnia - Greg - 03-31-2023

You know you want to get stabbed for a living.

RE: Brain circus insomnia - Drunk Monk - 03-31-2023

Naw

It's bad for your knees and teeth.

Bad for the knees. Meth is bad for the teeth.

I prudently went to sleep early as I was feeling drowsy and have a big week ahead of me. But I woke at 3 - popped wide awake. Sleep is dumb. You can’t bank sleep as in investing it sleep extra so you can withdraw it later. You can only lose sleep.’
