Christina was thinking about Nick's Crispy Tacos and, looking online, discovered it closed some time ago. It has been a while since we went to Polk. But still, that's sad. Their food was good. At least (it seems that) Smoke Signals is still there.

Just got an Emergency Alert on my phone that a young mountain lion was seen about a dozen blocks from where I live. I’ve seen coyotes in my tony ‘hood, but nothing like that.

RE: San Francisco - Drunk Monk - 01-27-2026

We get mountain lions every couple of years. I live near a greenway called Arana Gulch (or as we like to say Ariana grande). They come down off the mountains through there. I wonder what corridor brings them to your hood.

I would love to see a big wild cat… from a distance. I’ve seen bobcat here and heard jaguars when trekking tht Himalayas, but I’ve yet to see a mountain lion. There was one photographed at an apartment complex across the street from star of the sea park where Yuki & I go a lot just a few years ago.

Woah. Just saw the footage on fb. Big cat.

If only...

Just imagine what a feast the yeti would've been for that mountain lion. It could've tucked that up in a tree, let it ripen, and eaten well for a month. Poor kitty.

It's the travel writers' conundrum. By writing about some special 'secret' you spoil it. Happens with martial arts writing all the time.

Where to find parking for the Castro Theater
Castro Street, between 14th and 16th
Pro tip: Separated from the Castro by Market Street, and up the hill a little, most people don’t think of parking here. I found a cool old metal dustpan on the street here once. Still use it.

For the record, this was great advice: No dustpan tho.

RE: San Francisco - Greg - 06-06-2026

Next Saturday, the Queen and I are doing a lightning to Oracle Park to watch some Sportsball played between our two teams. We'll head back Sunday. We are coming up the Peninsula on the way in and we'll be stopping at some pizza place for lunch.
