Everybody’s in LA - John Mulaney
#1
A short, live series (stunt?) while all the comics are in town for the Netflix is a Joke week. John Mulaney hosts a talk show in front of a live audience… I watched the 1st episode and he describes the brevity of the show and notes that the show will never find its feet. It didn’t in the first installment. It was OK, but went a bit sideways about 1/2 way thru and we started skipping ahead. there are some pre-recorded bits intermixed, so it’s not all live talk show format.

I wasn’t planning on watching more, but then I heard about this Armisen bit where he drives around LA in a van, collecting old punk rockers for a focus group. Here’s a clip (it’s a “short”, so I don’t know if the embed will work)

So is this a D00M recommendation or not? I almost tuned this in last night but decided to surf YouTube instead.

From the first episode, I would say not.  That bit above was interesting to me, so there may be more, but I'm not sitting thru the rest to find more.

It's really hit or miss. Some funny bits but overall underwhelming. Some guests are good, some not. The final episode ends with Beck live playing Loser and I enjoyed that.
