Think of The Red Beast as How to Train Your Dragon with Scottish sea farers instead of Vikings with an added dash of Moby Dick
There is a group of hunters who prowl the seas to sea monsters, with the greatest prize being the Red Beast. The good ship Inevitable is on the hunt and has the best chance of catching the Red Beast. Hunters are paid by the King and Queen to kill the monsters but that might change as the royalty think they might have a better way to do that using their own navy. Into the mix comes a little orphan girl whose parents were killed when their hunting ship was destroyed. She wants to crew on the Inevitable and hunt monsters like her parents.
All in all it was a good adventure film with some fun sea battles. There is a big speech at the end that delivers the films message but it's pretty entertaining overall.
