Another year of me not winning. Are they trying to tell me something. Big wins for Eddie Murphy and Dreamgirls. Oh, wait. Not so much. I'm just glad that frickin Little Miss Sunshine didn't win more awards.

I'm still trying to parse the victory of Happy Feet over Cars.

That was a shocker. It seems there were a lot of upsets. Poor Mr. Murphy.

Happy Feet was a much better movie. Cars sucked. Sorry, bro.

I didn't get a chance to see Happy Feet yet, but between Cars and Monster House, just glad they didn't honor Monster House. Bleah.
I didn't get a chance to edit the backstage interviews of either George Miller or Torril Kove, but I have access to the transcripts if you want them.

I thought Eddie Murphy looked pissed when he didn't win. Certainly he could stand to be humbled a bit. And I admit that I haven't seen the movie, but in the clip they showed during the ceremony, his performance reminded me of his Buckwheat bit on Saturday Night Live. Am I the only one who thought that?

I saw it and Eddie was *very* good in Dreamgirls -- far better than anything else I've seen him in. I thought Mark Wahlberg deserved it as much as Eddie, but I"m guessing that Alan Arkin got it for the same reason Scorcese did -- more "body of work" than the specific performance.

You know, that clip did bring flashbacks of SNL Buckwheat -- something about his hair rather than his speech or mannerisms. I suspect his performance was very good. As for "body of work," I take it Norbit doesn't quite count.
I thought Peter O'Toole looked absolutely devastated in the brief shot of him after announcing Best Actor. Poor guy.
