The Mitchell's vs The Machines
#1
From the makers of The Lego Movie and Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse comes this family comedy about the Mitchell's fending off the robot uprising. The robot uprising stems from a product launch of a thinly disguised Cupertino computer that some people on this forum might actually work at.

It's a family story of the eldest Mitchell daughter heading off to college estranged from her father. She wants to be filmmaker and her father can't understand her. The mom is a first grade teacher. The son loves dinosaur. They all head off to drive the daughter to college when the uprising occurs. It's a lot of the same story beats we have seen before. A lot of life lessons which seem to be standard faire for family animated comedies. But it's really well done. And there are some laugh out loud chuckles.  Much like Into the Spiderverse, there are a lot of interesting things done with the animation flipping from hand drawn to 3-d and mixing in live action footage as well. There is also a lot of commentary on our devices and how we interact with them.

The story skews a little young, but it's entertaining overall.

Let the Dark Harvest begin.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
