The Battered Bastards of Baseball (2014)
#1
Kurt Russel's dad Bing Russell was an actor as well. But after 13 years as the sheriff on Gunsmoke, Bing tired of the Business. Bing was a also a lifelong Baseball fan and would have pursued a career in baseball except for an unfortunate accident.

In 1973, Bing saw a chance to get back into baseball by purchasing the rights to start a team in Portland, OR. He started the Portland Mavericks. The documentary tells the story of the rise and fall of the team.

It's a pretty standard documentary. There is lots of footage of the team. The documentary tells about all the various forces at work pushing for and against the team. And it shows the untimely demise of the team when MLB decides Independent Baseball teams are bad for it's business model.

Kurt Russel pops up occasionally to talk about his dad and his own involvement in the team. It's a solid documentary but I think you will have to really like baseball to want to see it.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
