A Roald Dahl book turned to a CGI extravaganza. It was okay. I enjoyed the look of it. Stacy is a fan of Wolf Hall so she appreciated that Rylance played the BFG and could be seen even under that CGI mask. It's very Spielberg. Downton factor 1 - Mrs. Crawley. The lead girl Ruby Barnhill was impressive because she was acting within what must have been a lot of green screened sets. I also was amused by the bfg's patois. Fart jokes from the frobscottle. I'm usually put out by fart jokes in kid's films because China films overdo them, but the frobscottled corgis was kinda funny.
No sword fights but the bfg is given a sword for a knife in his breakfast with the queen (Crawley). Not DOOM recommended unless your a rabid fan of Dahl (I like Dahl's stuff but I'm not rabid about it).
