I wrote this one off at seeing the trailer. But tQ wanted to see the talking animals. It was in the Queue. It showed up at the house.
I figured we could watch it for ten minutes and then switch it off when it got horrible. But it never got horrible. There were funny bits. The story engaged us, even though it was slight. The had a great cast of voice actors to do the animals and it all kind of worked.
Robert Downey Jr. plays Dr. Dolittle hiding in his house with his animals after his wife dies. He wants nothing to do with the world. That comes to an end when a young boy brings him an injure squirrel and the handmaiden of the Queen brings him news that the Queen needs to see him. This sends Dolittle and the young boy on a quest with all the animals. Their are villains to thwart the quest and hijinks to be had. But it was all kind of funny and the voice cast seduced me.
The weakest link in the affair was Downey. He had this weird quiet scottish accent and he kind of talked to himself the whole time. I missed a lot of his lines because they were so quiet.
It worked for the tQ and I. No singing. Probably a bit more fun than the original.

So China reopened its movie theaters. And Doolittle took the box office there. It's still way in the hole from being such a huge big budget flop. The world is weird now.
This is just about as bad as it seems from the previews. Worse even. Downey is doing his best Depp impersonation which should be enough to turn you off from the get go. The voice cast of animals boasts a lot of talent and I was disappointed that I failed in guessing any of them correctly. HP factor 2: Voldemort & Slughorn.
But it didn't work for me. It worked for Stacy strangely. She put this our on Netflix DVD list. She loves the book and the original moves and laughed a lot, which even she thought strange because she typically disdains this sort of film. Like I said, weird world.
It's preposterous story wise - lots of logic gaps - but who's going to call out a talking octopus? I miss the giant snail and the pushmepullyou.
No sword fights but some brandishing and pointing. Only DOOM recommended for ED and Greg. ED for his past love of talking animals. Greg because his review of this would be hysterical. For the rest of you, I jumped on this grenade, not that it landed anywhere near any of your foxholes, but I did it anyway because I'm self sacrificing that way.

http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...e#pid39199 I thought so, and was surprised that you gave it basically a thumbs up.

He’s run rings around you, logically.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Haven't seen this (I think Downey is vastly overrated) but DM's HP factor is wrong - he missed Trelawney.

Right! She voiced the parrot.. oh intercourse the parrot.
This review was a total fail. I blame Downey’s bad Depp. Where’s Rex when ya need him?
