Venice: The official Doom Foreign Capital
#16
dm remembers being really strung out after travelling to asia and having a 4-hour layover in narita. dm bought some weird snack mix that had tiny whole dried fish in it, about the size of paper clips, all covered in white frosting sprinkles, mixed with rice crackers and seaweed bits. it was nasty and illicited a bad trip.

but still, being eaten by monsters is a bonus in dm's mind. all the more reason for a good argument for tokyo. then again, the rest of you need to see shaolin. it's like han's island, only it's a mountain.

good to hear another vote for amsterdam from ppfy. if dm ever makes it to europe, he'll know what he's talking about there.

When did DM start talking about himself in the third person? Did he suddenly become a proffesional ball player. Greg wants to know.

Preferably one who can deal with his delusions of grandeur. I knew that write up was going to be a big mistake.

cursed are their picks for euroDOOM

Quote:Venice swamped by 'aqua alta'

ROME: A steep rise in sea levels swamped part of the historic lagooon city of Venice yesterday, the first "aqua alta" (high water) of the year.

Venice was hit by the common seasonal phenomenon combined with a depression that pushed water levels up to a peak of three feet, before receding, the city's flood centre said.

"It's the first time this year that the waters have reached such a height," the statement said, adding that 15 per cent of the historic centre was submerged.

Tourists in Saint Mark's Square took off their shoes and rolled up their trousers to cope with the flooding, blamed on a combination of natural tides, a weather disturbance originating in the Atlantic Ocean that caused winds over the Adriatic and a drop in atmospheric pressure.

In worse-hit areas, people made their way along narrow raised walkways.

The flood centre used a new SMS alert system for the first time, in addition to the usual sirens and loud-speaker announcements, to warn the public of the rising waters.

Sure, but the waters receded and Venice was still there. How can that not be the EuroDoom's capital? Valiant in the face of drastic odds.

...Zac Efron may be cast in the live-action version of Akira. Just thought that might spoil your day. You can thank me later.

Who is speaking about that Akira Kid on the Venice thread? Although Morgan Freeman will be in the movie, too. It might balance.
