Quote:The Banana Splits Is Being Turned Into a Horror Film By Warner Bros. & Syfy--tg
by Jon ArvedonFeb 19, 2019
The beloved children's franchise The Banana Splits is being reimagined in an unthinkable manner: as a horror film.
The movie, which will arrive in 2019 from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment before making its television debut on Syfy, centers on a boy named Harley and his family, who attend a taping of The Banana Splits. However, things quickly go south and bodies begin to pile up.
The Banana Splits, of course, is the fictional animal rock band that starred in The Banana Splits Adventure Hour, a children's variety show that ran on NBC from 1968-1970. In 2008, the property underwent a short-lived revival on Cartoon Network in the form of comedy shorts and music videos.
The Banana Splits stars Dani Kind (Wyonna Earp) as Beth, Finlay Wojtak-Hissong (The Kindness of Strangers) as Harley, Romeo Carere as Austin, Steve Lund (Street Legal, Schitt’s Creek) as Mitch, and Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries, A Series of Unfortunate Events, War for the Planet of the Apes) as Rebecca. Bingo, Fleegle, Snorky and Drooper will also appear. The film is written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas (Raven’s Home, My Super Psycho Sweet 16) and directed by Danishka Esterhazy (Level 16). The film does not yet have a release date.
