Our screener wasn’t in 3D.
This is probably really good in 3D. Might even be worth IMAX.
Nicole Kidman, Sword fights, octopus percussion, majestic sea flap flaps. Excalibur meets little mermaid and Godzilla with a nod to Lovecraft. I wuz entertained.
SPOILER ALERT
Whenever it gets quiet, something explodes.

Cuz you're a guy.
And not a gay guy.
Not like...well, let's not go there with DOOM right now, mmkay?
Let's just focus on Nicole.

The Queen doesn't understand the appeal of Mamoa either.
This film is queued for this evening.

That’s funny, because you and Momoa could almost be twins.
I rented it last weekend. Pretty spectacular on the CGI front. Entertaining enough to be worth the $.

I predict Greg will dislike this film.

Since Greg hates everything, not much of a stretch.

You guys know me so well. Wow. Just wow.
What was that movie supposed to be? Was it an origin story? If so, it was badly done. Was it an action-adventure flick? Because man that was a lot expository dialogue for an action adventure flick. Did they not get the memo about show don't tell? Did they get a big basket of cliches in the writer's room, because boy did they use a lot of them. Were they afraid we didn't have enough giant monsters in films? That Godzilla and Pacific Room weren't standing up enough for Kaiju?
You would think at this point in his career, Dolph Lundgren would know how to act. Or that Willem Dafoe could have given him some tips. But then again Dafoe was phoning it in as well. . Or maybe that de-aging they did scrubbed out his acting ability as well. Glad that Dafoe got more use out of his Green Goblin outfit Good to see Nicole kidman working really hard for her paycheck by bringing all the acting. Don't get me started on Aquaman's father. There's a bag somewhere he can't act his way out of. The main bad-guy, not the mantis guy, looked like he only had two levels of emotion: constipated and total bowel blockage.
At least the bad acting was coupled with a really tired story. Oh, it felt long. Did they have to show every battle to unite the undersea world? Yes. Did they have to follow every step on Aquaman's Indiana Jones-esque journey? Yes.
I'm glad to see them ripping off the fight aesthetic they used in Wonder Woman. Which I guess they stole from 300. That's not getting tiresome at all.
I didn't see any of the extras.
I'm not waiting for the sequel.

Also, did anyone notice how the theme music switched to a video game theme from the 80s when they were fighting across the roof tops in Sicily?

It was actually different fight coordinators. This was Valera, who also did Atomic Blonde and is doing the upcoming John Wick 3. Wonder Woman didn't credit its fight choreographers, which was lame.

But it's that hyper lapse style that is annoying me now that it is overused.
