Isle of Dogs

In the stop-motion tradition of Fantastic Mr. Fox, this takes Anderson's filmmaking a level up with its anthropomorphic deadpan wit.  Loved it through and through. T and I both LOLed at several points with its quirky cleverness. Genuinely funny and heartfelt (and there's a bit of a swordfight even).  The dogs were loyally rendered and what a cast of voice actors - Murray, Goldblum, Swinton, ScarJo, Yoko Ono even.  The cultural appropriation accusations were way off base as this was very observant to both Japanese and dog culture. Major win with the taiko soundtrack.  Highly recommended, especially for DOOM dog lovers.

I enjoyed it, but…

This was done in 2018 and includes:
- a rampant virus among dogs that is at risk of spreading to humans
- a cure suppressed
- an election potentially stolen
- conspiracy theories

WTF Mr Anderson, if you were trying to warn us, could you have been more direct!?

Stop-motion taiko and ceremonial katana dance were nice

Extra points for a tentacle!

My only issue: I just don’t believe that dogs can whistle…
