Beyond Skyline

Its Grillo vs Uwais. Space predators invade sucking up peeps like dry rice in a vacuum, riding in alien mega tech battle suits, and yes, this gets all kaiju too. Sanguineuos - lots of schloosh sounds as aliens get shanked. The plot is extravagantly dumb and the ng reveal too many green screens. Not a great film, in fact quite flawed, but if you like watching people’a Brains get ripped out their skulls, this film is for you.

I remember watching the first film and thinking: WTF? Did one brother mostly get his way and the other brother try to mess things up? The Brothers Strauss are not the Wachowskii Brothers.

Saw this two nights ago.  Don't know why.  Pretty much agree with DM.
Some or all of the martial arts was pretty bad.  Watching Uwais through one sequence, I kept thinking, "This is the guy who did The Raid?"
I drifted off a couple times.  Regaining consciousness at one point, I saw that there was now a baby with the small group.  "Where'd the baby come from?" I wondered.  Moments later some guy joins (rejoins?) the group, glances over at the baby, and asks Grillo, "Where'd the baby come from?"  Grillo gets an amused look on his face and says, "Well, let me tell you."  But then he doesn't, as if it's too weird to explain.

I could have rewound and tracked it down eventually.  I did not.

This could really have used a wheelbarrow.

WTH ED & PPFY?!?!  Youse guys knew there were landmines and yet you let me walk into this minefield?  (this is a reference to Beyond Skyline that you'll only get if you sit through this bomb (and yes, that's a pun within a pun)).   You think DM's got time to waste watching martial arts sci-fi like this?  You could've given me some warning, just a little 'head's up' post here.  But no, let DM watch it, then let him post about it and just nod in agreement, let DM do all the heavy lifting, knowing he couldn't resist martial sci-fi, especially starring Grillo and Uwais and with the initals B & S.  What's the point of this forum if not to warn each other about bad cinema.  And you call yourselves DOOM brothers.

Regardless, I confess I would've watched this anyway.  Grillo vs. Uwais.  Even if it was a short muddy fight.  'nuf said.

Zero MA in film #1. Sorry/not sorry, TV’s DM. You should have “your people” “handle it “ for you.

Skylin3s (2021)
It's on Netflix and Yayan is in it so I gave it a peep. I wasn't expecting much and didn't get much so it was okay. Sort of an Aliens 2 poach. Yayan has alien claw hands and fights a little bit with them. There's several fight scenes with the rest of cast. Mediocre at best. It was a bit hard to understand because I forgot what happened in the last one and this one relies heavily upon remembering that stuff.

Sword fights! Crazy lite-up lazer sword. Never quite understood what the dealio was with that but it was a sword moment.

Not DOOM recommended.
