Savage Dog

So I'm catching up on my castmates work.  This is a hackneyed underground death match flick with Marko Zaror as the villain.  Cung Le, also a professional acquaintance is another villain and the lead is Scott Adkins.  It's set in indochina post WWII, but that doesn't really matter beyond justifying the SS villain and the French Foreign Legion.  Actually, nothing really matters plot-wise.  The dialog is steriodally stilted, the kind of film that resorts to a narrator.  It's all about the fights.  Scott can sell a strike.  So can Cung and Marko.  I think they are really hitting each other, not at full force, but hard enough to hurt.  And you know how I'm always on about my disdain for digital blood?  This has old skool pumping blood, so much that its almost salad-days/black-knight level.  There's amputation, decapitation, arterial gushers, and a tiny bit of cannibalism.  There's fightin' in mud pits, big ol' folding knives, machete choppin', shotguns and machine guns, grenades, and some excellent hand-to-hand.  It should've been called Sanguineous Dog.

This would've made a good DOOM flick back in the day, because we could've all chatted over the dumb non-fight scenes, making offhand jokes, and then relished in the ultravi.  If you choose to watch it on your own, just speed to the fight scenes.
