The makers of Book of Kells & Song of the Sea. A very different story in the same style - same palette & same reliance on storytelling as a parallel metaphor. This is harsh - a family of women has their amputee father imprisoned. Forbidden to be outside without a man, the young daughter goes mulan to get food and earn money. It’s brutally oppressive, and the ending is existential, yet some important themes emerge.
I want Loving Vincent to win the Oscar because it’s so technically stunning and I’ve only seen this and that, but it’ll probably go to Coco.
