Soulwise @ Moes 12/22/17
#1
One of my pardners-in-crime, Edgar (jedi & dragon crew) is a christmas baby so he called in the Cruz crew for a pre-b-day show.  None of us were really into Soulwise or Pacific Roots.  Both are typical CA reggae - serviceable but not stellar or even that distinguishable from other CA reggae.  We stayed outside because the show was sold out tight and it wasn't packed out there. It was a CD release party for Soulwise and they have a big local following, as does Pacific Roots. It was a young pretty crowd - mostly in their 20s - fun and irie.  We were among the oldest there. Didn't tune into the music at all.  Just drank and inhaled.  One of our crew locked and loaded us with lots of ammo and insisted with fire it all before leaving.  We wound up hanging out with DJ Spleece and Aye Que Linda - local reggae djs that i've befriended.  We had a great time, but the bands were pretty much superfluous - background soundtrack to a night of great conversation and celebration.
