Uzumasa Limelight (2014) by Ken Ochiai

About an aging movie extra who specializes in being killed in Samurai movies.
Lots of movie set sword fights.  I found it more interesting than most might.  A lot about movie-making in Japan, and the changing tastes of audiences, and how ageism rears its ugly head everywhere.

This seems like something DM would have seen, but it isn't reviewed on here.  Greg might find the movie sets interesting.

This is available on Hoopladigital.com, which has an arrangement with many libraries that allows borrowing 4 movies a month free.  Roku supports Hoopla, so I was able to watch it easily enough on the TV.

They also have The Villainess, which I really need to see again, this time with subtitles.
I'm nobody's pony.

Goddammit cf.  I have this fleeting memory of seeing some sort of documentary on an extra in Samurai movies and I thought this was it but now I see this is a fiction film.  It's been been bugging me since you posted this.  Now I'm thinking the doc I'm remembering was Mifunehttp://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=3945.
