The Right Side by Spencer Quinn
#1
Usually, Quinn writes the Bernie and Chet mysteries. Chet, the dog, narrates the stories while Bernie is the human investigator. They are fun and light hearted but the shtick kind of wore thin for me.

But he takes a more serious tone in this book about a wounded Iraqi veteran trying to put herself back together. No dog narrator in this book, but the female army sergeant has the same short term memory problems Chet has. There is a mystery towards the end she has to solve but it's mostly about recovering and dealing with her injuries. There is also a dog but doesn't narrate.

It was a good fast read and was well written. I'm looking forward to more books in this series.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
