The Beguiled

[Drunk Monk]

Nicole Kidman as an icy headmistress to a small girls school in a rundown mansion near the civil war front. Kristen Dunst as her dowdy assistant (she's not aged as well as Nicole). Colin Farrell as the hunky enemy soldier they harbor. Very Sophia Coppola. Dark, southern swamp gothic, with almost no soundtrack beyond crickets and distant bombs. Several audience members laughed when it was done. Nicole is a fond ice queen. We were really hoping for a psychedelic mushroom scene because it almost went that direction and if it did, it would've been awesome.
