"Green Room" was a nice surprise. I have kind of avoided 'Horror/Thriller' movies lately because they are not 'Horror' they are 'Torture Porn'. I couldn't even sit through "Hostel" and you guys know I don't have a weak stomach. I just like a good script with relatable characters and relentless terror.
The great thing about "Green Room" is it taps into that 'Documentary Feel' a la "Blair Witch Project". The characters are real people, reacting in a real way to dangerous situations. It has a real Romero 'Niight of the Living Dead' rawness to it.
Slight spoiler alert (I reveal the first few minutes of the movie):
A punk rock band finds itself booked to perform at a remote farm frequented by neo-nazi skinheads. They see stuff they aren't supposed to see and become targets of their hosts.
It does a great job of the old 'we're barricaded in this room, now what?' predicament.
I say, check it out.
