I don't think I've seen this in a quarter century. Really trippy to see again. I still remember almost all the songs. It stands the test of time remarkably well. No other film like it - not even close.

I didn't hear about that. I remember when Glee did it's tribute ep (see http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...6#pid18726). Is this a new version like one of those live Broadway shows, or some sort of re-edit of the original.
The version I saw last night was on some Drag Queen channel - the one that has the RuPaul show. The ads were all about the trans demographic. They blurred every nipple shot, including the statues after Frank medusa transduces every one.

i never watched that prisoner redux, and will avoid it based on the reviews here.

I'll watch it. The music surpasses the actors or it's not a true musical.
Surpassing Tim Curry will be like surpassing Jon Heder as Napoleon Dynamite.
Good luck with that.

The original is so perfect. But ED has a point. And I hear Curry will step into the role of the narrator. So I may check it out. We'll see.

The reviews suck so far. So I'll let ED jump on this grenade before going in.
I'd just want to see Tim Curry. I read he had a stroke.

I thought u were going to jump on this grenade ED, but nooooooooooo, u gotta go to bridge and have a great time. I took your musical comment to heart and was punished for it. What a horrid waste. And Tims appearance was so sad as the stroke scars were blatant. I couldn't even make it past sweet transvestite. The GLEE version was so much better.
Should've stuck with my original boycott but fell victim to ed's persuasion once again. When, oh when, will I learn?

ED has stated in the past he is not a grenade taker, a crest rider. He lets the chips fall and picks the one he likes.

I know, right? You'd think after, dang, like 40 years, Dm would know not to follow ED down drainage ditches. That just never works out well.
He is right about the music though. All of those RH tunes are burned into my brain and have been earworms crawling out ever since.
I'm kinda hoping that ED checks this out a luvs it like he luved the Bee Gees Sgt Pepper movie, just for argument's sake. (See what I did there? ED, you gotta watch this now, if for no other reason but to share my pain).

Once the hole is deep enough, DM, maybe you should stop digging? Although maybe you haven't learned when that is?
And as a point of clarity, you aren't following him down drainage ditches, he is pointing them out to you and you are gleefully jumping in.
Truth be told, if I had remembered to tape it, I was planning on watching it to see how dreadful it was going to be. I saw the trailer and didn't think it captured the spirit of the movie, but like a car wreck . . .
Plus, I had heard about Curry's stroke and thought he was out of acting. I was curious to see how he was doing and whether he had recovered. See note above about car wreck.

Tape it? srsly? It's available on Hulu+. I had it on while I was melting some lams.
As I said above, seeing Tim was the main draw, and he was in such bad shape, despite their attempt to hide it. That was harsh. It reminded me of when they showed actual footage of Bruce Lee's funeral in Game of Death. So sad.
And the drainage ditch reference is an inside joke between ED & DM. Whenever he gets around to reading this, he'll chuckle at it for sure. Maybe he'll share it with greater DOOM. Maybe it'll just be our little secret. Maybe I'll threaten to share it if he doesn't review the new RH here soon...
