In the vein of "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" and "The Wrecking Crew", this movie follows the producer, his studio and band ("The Swampers") that recorded all the hits that were recorded in Muscle Shoals, AL. It gets into record company shenanigans, shifting alliances, competing studios. Pretty interesting. I learned that "Freebird" was written by a Lynard Skynard roadie. Saw it on Netflix.

Good one. I never put together how many great recordings came out of this studio and it totally explains that weird Skynyrd lyric (most racist band I ever worked). What a great sound came out of that swamp tho. That bass line underpinning those melodies. It definitely had its distinct sound. This doc put a lot together for me in terms of roots. Very educational.
