It's the Stephen Hawking story starring academy award winner Eddie Redmayne. If you want the highlights of the Stephen Hawking story, this is the movie for you. It does a good job of going over the points of his life from his initial discoveries to his battle with ALS. It was a good if tragic story. It had the feel of a monster movie. You know something bad was going to happen to the lead but you were powerless to help him. Every twitch and misstep of Redmayne was just a portent of things to come.
It showed the good as well as the bad. I was surprised to see them talk about the dissolution of his first marriage. The affair his wife had with Daredevil with Hawkings tacit approval was kind of murky, you never get a clear indication of whether it was consummated during the marriage.
But it's a good film and made a good weekend pairing with The Imitation Game.
