My Old Lady

What? Another French film? WTH is wrong with DM? Well, S has been under the weather and been binging on TV as therapy, and she enjoys French films as she was an exchange student in that godawfulfilmmaking land, so I relented. Rented it off iTunes.

Ok, that being said, this wasn't bad. Kevin Kline is the egomaniac alcoholic - he's great at egomaniacs - has been since A Fish Called Wanda. The Dowager Countess is the 'old lady' bringing the HPfactor to 1 (Mcgonagall obviously). Kristin Scott Thomas is in it too, who I've always thought fondly of since the English Patient, but then no more. It's a redemptive tale, the fallout of an affair with children, a love story in Paris springtime. It's sweet, scenic, funny and tragic, and each actor delivers. It's predictable for the most part but the characters are really well fleshed out, which makes it all work. No swordfights, dogs, bollywood numbers, sets of note, hallucinations or any typical DOOM delights. Good date film for any of us who still date.

Is this an actual French Film or just a film set in France? I was going to go with the latter.

As in I probably will see 100 Foot walk since it is a film set in France rather than a French film.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

It's really more Hollywood. If it had the random nekkid person, the smoking cigs in a cafe discussion art, or ambiguous ending it would have been truly French and I would have been more critical in my review.
