There are so many food documentaries nowadays that you just gotta check in with one every once in a while to remember how our food is fukked. This one is by Katie Couric and Michael Pollan. It goes after juvenile obesity and diabetes, processed foods, sugar, the FDA and Flotus. I like how it took the blame away from fat kids, dismantling the ol' 'eat less, exercise more' BS propounded by so many cursory health advocates. It also highlighted the food lobbyists, the basic conflict of interest with the FDA and the ridiculousness of processed foods. President Clinton comes off very well in this. Flotus's 'let's move' campaign is revealed as a massive compromise, one that happened right before my eyes but I just didn't notice it because that's just the way media is today. The analogy to tobacco and sugar was a bit of a reach...or was it?

No swordfights, only a little dancing (well, aerobics), no dogs, no sets to speak of.
