The Hundred-Foot Journey
#1
A foodie flick obviously. It delivers exactly what you expect and sits well next to the other great foodie flicks like Babette's Feast, Chocolate, Ratatouille, God of Cookery, Kung Fu Chefs, Soylent Green....oh wait, I've digressed. Beautiful food. Beautiful France. Eating as an epiphany. Mastication masturbation. Helen is deliciously regal as always. Om Puri has the ugliest schnoz in Bollywood, but that baritone voice is right up there with James Earl Jones. Manish Dayal started to piss me off because as Asian actors go, the Indians have retained a modicum of sexiness despite Raj on the Big Bang Theory, while the East Asians are still shaking off Long Duk Dong. Charlotte Le Bon was perfectly scrumptious as the cute French ingenue, crooked teeth and all. Needed more Indian dishes. No sword fights but some there are some okay vegetable and meat chopping scenes.
