Rock Bottom Remainders
#1
First off, I'm not going to be on upcoming edition of Hoarders. Mainly because they have cancelled that show.

But I was digging around the office looking (Yes, I can hear tQ asking how can I find anything in here) for a copy of the Lynch family history a relative of mine wrote (Yes, I wallow in nostalgia in preparation for the trip) when I came across a copy of the fake book promo/program for the appearance of the Rock Bottom Remainders. This is further proof that I keep everything. Be warned.

DM and I attended this performance back in 1994 when he ventured south with Mrs. DM for a book convention. The band was pretty bad playing 3 chord songs from the Fifties and Sixties. But there were a lot of famous authors in the band, so that made it amusing.

It flipped to surreal when for an encore Bruce Springsteen came and played Gloria with the band. This is the only time I've seen the Boss. There were probably only 200 people at this performance. But I have the program which would have been better if Springsteen was mentioned in it.

No, this is not the last time I will bore you with this story.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

Maybe I do, buried somewhere in storage at my mom's house.

I do have a RBR CREW T-shirt, from the first time RM worked it at ABA in Miami. That's one of my most prized RM shirts. It was the farthest RM ever travelled for a show.

But the show with the Boss, that is still spoken of as one of the most amazing surprise guests ever. I've seen the Boss several times, at Shoreline, at Oakland for some benefit (was it AIDS? Can't remember and too lazy to look it up now). But that LA ABA show was the best. Steven King on guitar, Matt Groening (sp?) on back-up vocals, Amy Tan in hip boots. I still have very fond memories of the RBR and have a crystalized memory of that moment when Bruce hit the stage.
