The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
#1
It was the escape from the rents movie.

It was fun. It all centers on the quest for Walter Mitty to find a missing negative that is to be the cover of the last issue of Life Magazine. Yes, Mitty is a daydreamer but he steps into adventures when he goes on the quest for the photographer and the missing negative.

Unfortunately, pretty much the whole movie is in the trailers with the exception of a few scenes. But I still enjoyed. The thing I like least about the film was the full on product placement. The two most egregious are Cinnabon and Papa John's which basically have their own three minute ads in the film. I hope they get paid a lot of money for those spots. I am also still trying to find out the appeal of Kristen Wiig. I don't think she's funny and she is not that attractive. Yet, she gets lots of films roles.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

She was great on SNL but she's struggling now to establish herself as a respected actress. In this film, she came off as mediocre at best. But then, so did Stiller and Mclaine. Sean was good. He saved the film as it was starting to really meander.

The film tackled my least fav topic - the death of print publishing. It tried to be all cinematic like Life mag, and much of that was probably nice on the big screen. There were some innovative uses of special effects. And there might have even been some heart felt sentiments. But in the end, it fell flat for me overall. It got lost in its own daydreaming. And yet, like Greg, I enjoyed it. It would have been much better for me if it pulled a Fight Club at the end where it was all a dream. Or if there was a sword fight.

Totally agree about the product placement. Don't forget the eHarmony plug.

It's a long way from the original short story, which T had to read for school last year, so I reread it too.
