One of those pieces of music that made me stop and listen. Thanks, Dave.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Lady Cranefly's dad is in the hospital right now. He's deeply into jazz and a huge fan of Brubeck. She has chosen not to tell him of Brubeck's passing.
It was maybe a decade ago that her dad came to visit, and LC had bought tickets to a Brubeck (and his band) performance at a winery in Saratoga or thereabouts. I had no idea who he was. That's how limited my musical knowledge is. Brubeck was in his mid-80s then, and he totally blew me away. Recently I watched part of The Josephine Baker Story on TV. I had earlier rented one of Josephine Baker's movies at the library. Black and white, early filmdom. I highly recommend you check out some of her movies. She was such an incredible dynamo, a little rough around the edges, but with a huge screen presence and a stunning voice. But getting back to The Josephine Baker Story, in one scene she's in some sort of night club when the announcer says, "And now, Dave Brubeck and his band!" or something like that. And I'm thinking, "Major anachronistic blunder," because, like, we're talking black-and-white movie era. Then it sinks in that, yes, Dave Brubeck was alive and well and performing even way back then. Just an amazing career.
I'm nobody's pony.
