What a misfire. Overly dramatic music and too often, like a conductor waving his stick and shouting the melody in an otherwise empty orchestra pit.
DiCaprio, whose neutral expression is squint, required to squint dramatically throughout.
Supported by a host of other unlikeable and uninteresting characters.
Doesn't give the viewer much to work with.
Scorsese did this? Of Raging Bull, of Taxi Driver? It's disturbing to see a master lose his touch late in life. Though I remain hopeful it's just a glitch. I want to believe artists improve with age.
Somehow I forgot that this got bad reviews when it came out. Or I cross-wired it with something else that got good reviews. I fast-forwarded through the latter portions, and I don't understand the ending, and while there are deep discussions of the ending online, I have no interest in reading up on it.

I'm nobody's pony.
