Apollo 18
#1
I'm an admitted moon landing nerd. I saw the trailer for this awhile ago and it piqued my interest even though it said "B" movie all over it. Production-wise, they used a lot of stock moon-landing footage, but didn't do too bad a job of trying to mix their sets, costumes, props into it. I missed the first few minutes (I was in the other room when it started), but I think the premise is that this is found footage (a la Cloverfield). Most of it is shot from the perspective of the astronauts hand-held camera, or on board 70's era TV camera broadcasting low data signals (think dim, blurry, shaky camera work). They even throw in regular film over exposure and scratches. Story-wise, this is a horror story set in space (ie: they saw Alien, even down to the Company knew about it the whole time angle). I never saw Blair Witch project, but this feels like Blair Witch on the moon: something spooky...did you hear that (shakey camera, blurry things go by), off camera scream, back to the LEM...stable TV camera to give the audience a rest.

Meh. They did use Yes' Close to the Edge as the 70's period music which I kinda liked. A sword fight would have been pretty cool. There was a car (rover) crash, but it wasn't very dramatic.

To make up for it, I listed to TMBG's Apollo 18: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_18_(album)
