It's the comedy about cancer starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen. It was supposed to be a different take on having cancer because it was supposed to be funny. The only problem, they didn't bring any funny. It was the usual cancer drama.
Levitt goes to the doctor because he's experiencing back pain. Turns out he has a rare form of spinal cancer. Seth Rogen plays Seth Rogen in the role of the best friend. Anjelica Houston plays the mom. Bryce Howard plays the worst girlfriend ever. Amy Adams plays the therapist who is trying to help Levitt deal with the emotional toil of his affliction.
It's based on a true story of how Rogen's friend actually dealt with cancer. It goes through all the steps you could think of. He gets chemo. he does pot. He tries to use the cancer to get a sympathy screw.
But again, not that funny. It's cancer. It's hard to make life threatening things funny and they don't succeed with this movie in doing that.
