After a 2 year program of collecting documents and scheduling an appointment at the SF Italian Consulate (2 year waiting list) I have achieved dual-citizenship status.
I can now buy/rent property in the EU in case things go south here.
The interesting thing about the process was, if you get approved, your documentation gets entered ito the public records of your ancestor's home town ( for me, Calendasco, Italy) including your birth and marriage certificates. This means your spouse can apply for dual-citizenship through marriage.
Anyway, I can now apply for an Italian passport and buy property in the European Union.
The thing I liked best about GotG2 was the use of the music.
