ic for Spider-Man on broadway which flopped spectacularly? I hope the sphere lives up to the hype. I'd like to check it out sometime. Can't afford the U2 run tho...

You missed it already. Such are surprise performances.
I will say that I was at the U2 performance in SF in '87 at Justin Herman Plaza. Then I saw the Joshua Tree tour at Oakland right afterwards. That was my first Rock Med show and it changed my life.

When I was a senior in high school, David Schumacher asked me if I wanted to go downtown and see a free show of a band called U2. I said no. Bad decision in retrospect. (It was before their first album came out, and most bands he liked were punk bands so I was skeptical.) They played the Spartan Pub. A friend of Christina's organized the show, and she cooked dinner for them.
