Thumbs up. Good story. Good effects. Good acting. Go see it. And if you missed the post in the DVD forum, you can see an older, related Blomkamp short here:
"Alive in Joberg"

One of the best movies I have seen in many a year. Not just "sci-fi" movie, but "movie" movie, period.
The fellow who played the protagonist should get an Oscar. The story, the characters that actually develop, the periodic but intense violence, the narrative structure...just a real well-made, well-acted film.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

My dvd player knew this film was so good it decided to work and let us play the movie. It was right.
The whole thing was very unexpected. The story was great, maybe limped a little towards the end of the middle, but all in all a very enjoyable experience. There were gross out scenes. There were uncomfortable political scenes. It was funny. There were great action scenes. I guess they got use out of that training for making the "Halo" movie afterall. I say see this film next.

Great film.
If you enjoyed D9, you should treat yourself to Tsotsi (<!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://brotherhoodofdoom.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=366">viewtopic.php?f=9&t=366</a><!-- l -->) - it's not sci-fi, but it grapples with many of the same issues and gives more context to Post-Apartheid S. Africa.
Oh, and there's something that Greg needs to merge: <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://brotherhoodofdoom.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1889&p=10950">viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1889&p=10950</a><!-- l -->

Yes, in my free time I will rewrite the code that makes the search engine work. No problem. I think I'll leave it up to DrunkOCD, thank you.
