Russo is a bigtime medical activist, but I have a reference for another archeological example from China that's older. At least, I think it was older. I have to dig that out now.

It's pretty common in China. The word for marijuana is 'ma', the most common word in the world because it's the first sound humans make. Hemp cloth is used for everything. But it goes back further and deeper in India.
