St. Patrick's Day is just a warm-up for the RM Anchor Brewery tour.

LB & DM will be there. FREE BEER! What more need I say?

You would think LB would be able to find Free Beer a little closer to home.

It was because of LB's sig0 and your truly that this event even exists. We helped the brewmaster's date at show at the Greek theater. LBsig0 bandaged her leg. Dm chatted w/the brewmaster to reassure him that all was well and discovered his occupation. Dm mentioned that RM takes donations, especially of the beer kind, hoping he'd kick down a case or two. Now, nine years later, it's been a wonderful thank you gift. Accordingly, LBsig0 makes it out every year, and drags LB along with her.

LB & sig0 offered to give Dm a ride up to the event (not quite as a DD, but it would allow for DM to really tie one on). However Mrs. Dm is on doula call, so he might just pass on that and travel solo. Wouldn't want to have to make that quick exit from the party with them in tow.

I saw them over NYE, but haven't seen them since. We chatted about this event and will catch up then. That was part of the carpool scheme.

Humming Ale - very tasty!
http://www.anchorbrewing.com/beers/hummingale.htm

As for LBsig0, she's doing well. They've settled in their country home with two dogs. Syl goes in for another operation on the ides of April to replace the lens and cosmetically reattach the pupil. There's a still lot of lost vision, and only a little change of much more improvement, but she's can drive and function normally. She's very happy with her new home, her dogs and her Legboner.

I was sure there was already a post around here about this, but Search has come up empty...

Quote:Are You Ready For Beer With 32% Alcohol Content?

It could be the biggest thing from the UK to hit American shores since the British Invasion -- or at the very least it could do more harm to a teenager than a Beatles song. A Scottish brewery is slowly unleashing a beer on the former colonies that contains an astounding 32% alcohol by volume.

The beer, called Tactical Nuclear Penguin and made by Scottish microbrewery BrewDog, has shipped a small amount of their potent potable to a handful of stores in California and New York. Additionally, stateside folks are also buying bottles of the beefed-up beer through the BrewDog site.

Reads the label on the bottle:

“This is an extremely strong beer; it should be enjoyed in small servings and with an air of aristocratic nonchalance. It is exactly the same manner you would enjoy a fine whisky, a Frank Zappa album or a visit from a friendly yet anxious ghost.”

BrewDog has already faced opposition to their high-alcohol beverages on their own soil. Regulators ordered their Toyko beer, with an 18.2% alcohol content, be pulled from shelves over the company's marketing of the product. BrewDog responded by releasing a 1.1% alcohol beer they dubbed Nanny State.

Tactical Nuclear Penguin isn't even the strongest beer made by BrewDog. A few months ago, after German brewer Schorschbrau unveiled a beer with a hefty 40% alcohol content, the Scots one-upped them, literally with their 41% offering Sink the Bismarck!.

One thing that will keep people from throwing back a 32% beer like it's a Bud Lite is the price. One bottle of the Tactical Nuclear Penguin will set you back around $53... per bottle.

Quote:It's 55 percent and wrapped in roadkill, is this the world's most 'shocking' beer?

You'd expect a lot from a bottle of beer costing $765. What you get is 55 percent alcohol — and served in a squirrel.

According to Scottish firm BrewDog, "The End of History" is the "strongest, most expensive and most shocking beer in the world."

Just 12 bottles were made and the company has already sold out. They will be shipped out to buyers in the United States, Canada, Italy, Denmark, Scotland and England next week.

The dead animals which were used to create the beers' unusual appearance were four squirrels, seven weasels and a hare. All were roadkill, James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog, told msnbc.com.

The name of the blond Belgian ale is taken from the title of a book by philosopher Francis Fukuyama, "The End of History and the Last Man" which the company said had been chosen to imply "this is to beer what democracy is to history."

Watt said the beer should be treated with care when drinking.

"It tastes more like a whisky and you have got to handle it in that way as opposed to the way you would handle a normal beer," he told msnbc.com.

Do you have any idea what kind of whisky DM could get for the Yeti at a 10th of that price? I'll tell you what kind. The kind that would make a Yeti DM's bitch 'til New Years.

I picked up a sixer on the way to earthdance. It was like $10 at Bev Mo. Totally not worth that price for the flavor. It's a very mediocre beer. It was all about the label, which was appreciated by a few python fans that I shared it with. I don't recommend it.
